How to Take Care of Your Lashes

How to Take Care of Your Lashes

Your Guide to Gorgeous Lashes!

At Habitual Lash, we understand the importance of well-maintained lashes that effortlessly enhance your natural beauty. Whether you've just had a lash lift or are considering lash extensions, we've got you covered with the best care tips to ensure your lashes stay fabulous and healthy.

Before we get started, there are three compelling reasons to take proper care of your lashes:

Maintain lash health: Consistently subjecting your lashes to harmful practices listed below can compromise their health and impede the growth of new lashes. Failing to clean them regularly can lead to itchiness caused by the buildup of dead skin on your eyelids.

Prolonged attractiveness: By ensuring proper care, your eyelash extensions will maintain their appealing appearance for a more extended period. Avoiding the use of mascara, oily makeup, and strip lashes will help keep them in excellent condition.

Cost and time savings: Effective maintenance and retention of your lashes can significantly reduce the need for frequent and extended infill appointments. As our infill charges are based on the number of lashes that require replacement each time, taking care of your lashes will ultimately save you money.

Lash Extensions

Post-Lash Lift or Lash Extensions Care

After getting a lash lift or lash extensions, it's crucial to follow these simple guidelines to maintain gorgeous results:

  • Avoid Water for the First 24 Hours: To ensure the adhesive sets properly, keep your lashes dry for the initial 24 hours after lash application.
  • Gentle Cleansing: Cleanse your lashes with a mild, oil-free cleanser to remove makeup and impurities without damaging the extensions or the lift.
  • Brushing is Key: Use a clean spoolie or a lash brush to gently comb through your lashes daily. This helps to prevent tangling and keeps them looking beautifully styled.

What Is Considered Normal:

After the lash application, some individuals with sensitivities may experience minor redness and dry eyes. We make efforts to minimize this by inquiring about sensitivities beforehand. In most cases, these symptoms disappear within an hour or so, and there's usually no cause for concern. However, if you are worried, feel free to give us a call.

It's normal to lose a few lashes every day (approximately 1-5 lashes). Don't be alarmed if you notice them falling out occasionally, as lash extensions are more substantial than your natural lashes. The extensions naturally shed along with the natural lash when it's ready to come out, making way for a new baby lash. Some days you may not lose any, while others, you might lose 3 or 4. This is entirely normal and does not indicate that all your eyelashes will fall out.

Lash growth cycles can vary in speed. Every few months, you may experience faster lash shedding, suggesting a lot of new growth. On other occasions, your lashes might still look great after 4 or 5 weeks, indicating minimal shedding.

No two sets of lashes are identical. We tailor the styling, sizes, weights, and curls to suit each individual's eye shape, natural lash condition, and preferences. Each style will look different depending on your own eye shape. So, even if you request the same style as your friend, please know that your lashes will not look identical.

Infills are typically required between 2 to 4 weeks. On average, our clients return for infills every 3 weeks. Sets with more lashes (glam and volume) tend to last longer than those with fewer lashes (full, lite). Additionally, shorter lashes usually have a longer lifespan.

What Is Not Considered Normal:

Intense itching, redness, and swollen eyelids in the first few days after the application may indicate an allergic reaction. Although these reactions are rare and mostly unavoidable, they can be treated. If you experience these symptoms, please contact us for further assistance.

Excessive shedding of extensions from the natural lashes within the first few days after application is uncommon. If you notice rapid shedding during the initial 3 days, please get in touch with us so that we can troubleshoot and assess your lashes.

If, after wearing extensions for a while, you occasionally experience a gritty and sandy feeling in your eyes, it could indicate that you need to clean your lashes more frequently and properly. We can can assess your lash line and advise on the best way to clean your lashes.

Lash Lift and Tint Aftercare

If you've opted for a lash lift and tint, here's how to maintain those captivating results:

  • Be Gentle: Avoid rubbing or touching your lashes excessively, as this can weaken the lift and cause premature fading of the tint.
  • Stay Away from Heat: Steer clear of saunas, hot showers, and hot steam near your face for the first 48 hours after the treatment.
  • Avoid Oil-based Products: Oil-based makeup removers and skincare products can break down the tint, so opt for oil-free alternatives.

General Lash Care Tips

Whether you have lash extensions or not, these everyday tips will keep your lashes healthy and beautiful:

  • Remove Makeup Gently: Use a gentle, oil-free makeup remover and avoid tugging on your lashes while removing eye makeup.
  • Avoid Waterproof Mascara: Waterproof mascara can be harsh on your lashes and difficult to remove, potentially causing damage.
  • Stay Away from Lash Curlers: Lash extensions and lash lifts provide a natural curl, so avoid using mechanical lash curlers that could cause breakage.
  • Regular Maintenance: For lash extensions, book regular touch-up appointments to keep your lashes looking full and flawless.
